Dear colleagues,
In case you are coming to the Goldschmidt 2013 in Florence, Italy, August 25-30th ,
consider contributing to our session:
Session 11d: Chemical,
Physical and Temporal Evolution of Magmatic Systems
Convenors: Jon
Blundy (University of Bristol, UK) , Luca
Caricchi (University of Geneva, CH)Keynote: Madeleine Humphreys (Oxford)
The chemistry of magmas evolves alongside with variations of the physical properties of magma (e.g. density and viscosity) that exert a prime control on the dynamics of magma transport, emplacement, fractionation, and eruption.
The composition of volcanic and intrusive products, together with the chemical zoning of minerals and
other geo-chronometers, can be used to provide a dynamic spatiotemporal picture of the processes active in magmatic systems.
With this session we would like to attract contributions from field, laboratory and numerical studies
attempting to connect the chemical variability observed in igneous products with timescales and dynamics of magmatic processes.
Deadline for abstract submission: 12th April 2013.
Looking forward to see you in Florence,
Luca Caricchi and Jon Blundy
