Research Fellow in Geochemistry
Location:  National Oceanography Centre Southampton
Salary:   £27,854 to £30,424
Full Time Fixed Term

We seek a postdoctoral scientist to study the role of the marine diagenesis of tephra in the carbon cycle.

The project will involve inorganic and organic geochemical analyses of sediment samples from IODP core material.  The appointment is for 3 years and will be based in Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton (UK) under the supervision of Professor Martin Palmer and Dr Tom Gernon.  Within the 3 year period, the successful applicant will also spend six months working with Professor Jim McManus at the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Oregon State University, Corvallis (USA).

A recent PhD in geology, geochemistry or earth science is required and experience in advanced analytical geochemical methods is strongly preferred.  Please contact Professor Martin Palmer (pmrp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx),for further information.
