Please consider submitting an abstract to the following session at the upcoming conference
in Mexico.
AGU Meeting of The Americas in Cancun (Mexico), 14-17 May, 2013
V06: Recent activity at volcanoes of the Americas: observation, interpretation of data and
managing the risk
The session will discuss aspects of recent eruptions in the Americas. The scope is broad:
we will cover all aspects of the eruptions, from observations of signals derived from
monitoring networks to issues associated with risk mitigation; from the birth of unrest to
communication with emergency managers. The overall management and flow of information
is critical in an eruption. We hope to receive examples of studies from erupting volcanoes of
all regions of the Americas. During the last few years in Mexico Volcán de Colima and
Popocatépetl have been particularly active, with both producing a plethora of data
interpretation opportunities as well as civil protection issues.
Note thet the deadline is getting close: 6 February 23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT.
Conveners:
Nick Varley, Universidad de Colima
Servando de la Cruz-Reyna, Instituto de Geofísica, UNAM
Gerardo Carrasco, Centro de Geociencias, UNAM
See you by the beach!!
