Hi folks,
Following from the very successful Cities on Volcanoes 7 meeting in Colima, the Cities and Volcanoes Commission of IAVCEI invites you to submit an abstract to the following session in Kagoshima in July:
Session 4-8. RECENT ERUPTION IMPACTS AND MITIGATION - a focus on both infrastructure and community volcanic hazard management
http://www.iavcei2013.com/scientific_program/scientific_program.html#4_8
There is likely to be an emphasis on recent eruptions, but all case studies and results related to infrastructure and communities are very suitable.
We would especially encourage any submissions related to the impacts and management of long-term volcanic crises.
One of the most persistent challenges in effective volcanic hazard reduction is developing and maintaining linkages amongst volcanologists, social scientists, emergency managers and communities. This session aims to serve as a conduit for exchange of research, ideas and experience, and promote multi-disciplinary applied research, involving the collaboration of physical and social scientists and city officials.
Submissions are via: http://www.iavcei2013.com/abstract_submission/abstract_submission.html
Due by January 31st
This session is sponsored by the Cities and Volcanoes Commission of IAVCEI.
We also draw your attention to the related Session 4-7 covering the details of volcanic ash impacts, convened by the Volcanic Ashfall Impacts Working Group of the CaV commission.
All the best,
Graham Leonard, Ichiro Matsuo, Bruce Houghton and Steve Self (session convenors for the CaV commission)
