Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the following monitoring and modeling volcanic processes IAVCEI session:

Terrain modeling of active volcanoes with photogrammetry, radar, and LiDAR techniques

http://www.iavcei2013.com/scientific_program/scientific_program.html#2_2e

Analysis of quickly changing topography at active volcanoes is critical to monitor and assess hazards. Volumes and eruption rate measurements of growing lava domes and flows constrain models of eruption dynamics and provide data to assess evolving hazards, especially when integrated with data from other monitoring techniques such as gas, geochemistry, seismicity, thermal flux, and geodesy. Advances in computer systems and software as well novel imaging techniques have made collecting and processing data for reconstructing active volcanic terrains near real-time, i.e., minutes to hours rather than days to weeks. The purpose of this session is to highlight recent advances in the collection and interpretation of topographic change data gathered from a variety of ground and aerial based remote sensing techniques. We invite presentations on any aspect of topographic modeling, from eruption response to laboratory analog studies. Contributions from the fields of photogrammetry, radar, and LiDAR are strongly encouraged. Contributions on time-series generation of topographic models and cross-disciplinary integration of monitoring techniques would be of considerable interest.

The abstract deadline is 31 January 2013:

We hope to see you in Kagoshima,
