Dear colleague,

we would like to invite you to submit a contribution to the upcoming Cities on Volcanoes 7 (CoV7), Session 1.1: Modelling volcanic hazards, Conveners: Lucia Capra, Antonio Costa, Arnau Folch, Jo Gottsman, Roberto Sulpizio (see session description below).

When you submit an abstract please consider the following:

- Registration to CoV7 is required prior to submission (www.citiesonvolcanoes7.com).
- Each participant may submit up to two abstracts with a maximum of one to be presented as an oral presentation.
- The word limit is 300 words without references, tables or figures.

We hope to meet you in Colima!

Lucia Capra, Antonio Costa, Arnau Folch, Jo Gottsman and Roberto Sulpizio

Session Description:
---------------------------
Volcanic eruptions are devastating natural phenomena. Both eruptive phenomena and eruption precursors can generate different hazards and impacts on people and infrastructures and require different approaches for an accurate hazard assessment. Due to the complexity and highly nonlinear processes involved, volcanic hazard assessment must integrate field observations, laboratory studies, and statistical analyses with numerical models of volcanic systems. Such an integrated approach is pivotal for an accurate understanding of the diversity and causality of volcanic hazards and resultant risk mitigation. This session is thus aimed to bring together modellers, field geologists, hazard assessors and risk managers in order to discuss modern methods of hazard assessment related to volcanic systems for eruptive and pre-eruptive phenomena. Presentations that combine different methods for hazard assessment and risk mitigation are particularly welcome.
