Fall AGU Meeting 2012, San Francisco, CA, 3-7 Dec 2012

Dear Colleagues

We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to VGP Session V003: Advances in Characterization of Geothermal Systems.

Recent scientific advances and public interest in renewable resources have extended the importance of geothermal energy. The goal of the session is to discuss geothermal research from the source to the surface: exploring types of heat sources in various tectonic settings, permeability distribution in the brittle crust, and the processes of mass and energy transfer. Important areas of research include magmas and their volatile contributions to hydrothermal systems, blind resources, role of structure and tectonics, fluid-rock interaction, surface _expression_ of heat and fluid circulation, and conceptual models of reservoirs.  We welcome the submission of abstracts with emphasis on geology, petrology, geochemistry, geomechanics, and numerical modelling.

The abstract submission deadline is 8 August 2012.
