he Institute for Mineralogy and Petrology at ETH Zurich invites applications for PhD fellowships in volcanic petrology.
We are searching for highly motivated PhD students interested in magmatic processes associated with volcanoes to investigate (1) volatile behaviors in shallow magma reservoirs and (2) eruptive cycles of Supervolcanoes. The PhD projects, funded by ETHZ, will be integrated in the group of magmatic petrology, and supervised by Prof. Olivier Bachmann. These projects will include a combination of fieldwork, geochemical analyses with data interpretation, and geodynamical modeling. Additional information about the projects is available upon request.
The length of the appointment will be for 3 years, starting in Fall 2012. Candidates should hold a diploma or M.Sc. degree with a strong background in geochemistry, geophysics, and/or geology.
