Applications are invited for a 1 year PostDoc position at INGV Bologna (with possibility to be extended up to 2.5 years) on European-funded project VUELCO (http://www.vuelco.net/VUELCO/Summary.html). Fundings include salary and travel to conferences.
We seek candidates strongly motivated in the implementation of innovative models for short-term probabilistic assessment of different hazardous outcomes related to volcanic unrest. Key-issues in the project will be the quantitative inclusion of monitoring data in the short-term probabilistic assessment and the evaluation of uncertainty. Deliverables are expected, along with implementation and/or participation in simulation exercises in Europe and Latin America.
Candidates should have a background knowledge in the study of pre-eruptive phases at volcanoes, probabilistic volcanic hazard estimates, statistics and programming.
