The School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability at Northern Arizona University is launching a new Ph.D. program, with three focal areas: (1) Earth and Planetary Systems, (2) Climate and Landscape Change, and (3) Engineering Sustainable Solutions. Students are now being accepted for Fall 2012. We anticipate that the application deadline will be March 15, 2012.
Prospective Ph.D. students (M.S. graduates by August, 2012) with interests in igneous petrology and geochemistry can contact Mary Reid about being a key contributor to a multi-institutional NSF-funded Continental Dynamics project on the tectonics of Central Anatolia, Turkey. You can learn more about this project by contacting her (Mary.Reid@xxxxxxx) and by visiting this website:

In addition to Reid, nine other faculty members at NAU have interests in geochemistry. We also have numerous analytical facilities, including an Axiom ICP multicollector mass spectrometer, a quadrupole ICP-MS equipped with a 213 nm Nd-YAG laser, four isotope ratio mass spectrometers (one equipped with continuous flow bench), a clean lab (including automated microdrill capabilities), an SEM with wavelength dispersive and cathodoluminescence capabilities, and an amino acid geochronology laboratory (an NSF Facility).
