Advanced Research Scientist – Volcanaolgy/Volatiles at the University of New Mexico, USA.
We invite applications for one advanced researcher with M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree to join the volcanology group at the University of New Mexico, USA. The volcanology/volatile-geochemistry group in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is well equipped with a state-of-the art quadrupole mass spectrometer, DID/TCD/FID gas chromatographs, stable isotope mass spectrometers, and beam analytical instruments including e-probe, SIMS, FTIR and SEM. The successful applicant will participate in a number of research projects in the fields of gas geochemistry, geothermal exploration and volcanology. The projects include field and laboratory work. Experience in mass spectrometry and/or gas chromatography is required. Experience with field collection of gas samples and/or field measurements of volcanic emissions is highly desirable. The position is for one year commencing in September 2011.
