Dear Colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the following Fall 2011 AGU session.
IN16. Geothermal Energy Research and Discovery
Sponsor: Earth and Space Science Informatics (IN); Co-Sponsor: Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology (VGP)
Description: Geothermal energy research is opening up many new resources beyond hydrothermal power production, including Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), sedimentary basin and geo-pressured reservoirs, direct-use, low-temperature, and ground-source heat pumps (GSHP). Virtually the entire world has one or more of these resources but we are limited in achieving our geothermal potential by lack of understanding of these systems and ready access to relevant data. This session focuses on approaches and results related to all aspects of geothermal energy research and characterization, and on the application of informatics technology to facilitate geothermal energy discovery, development, including the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Geothermal Data System.
