Hello all,

We would like to draw your attention to the following session at the AGU fall meeting, 2011, and would like to encourage you to submit an abstract.

V42: Tracking Syn-Eruptive Variations in Volcanic Conduit Properties

Eruptive style is partly determined by chemical/physical characteristics (composition, crystallinity, vesicularity), and thus physical properties (viscosity, permeability) of the erupting magma. These parameters may be subject to variations over short time/length scales, directly affecting the style and magnitude of resulting eruptions and the associated hazards. We seek contributions that quantify how magma properties vary in time and space over the course of individual eruptions and/or during transitions in behavior. We encourage studies that combine analytical, experimental, and modeling techniques and that apply them to the development of continuous temporal and spatial records of syn-eruptive volcanic conduit dynamics.

Cheers!

Kimberly Genareau, Lehigh University
C. Ian Schipper, CNRS - Université d'Orléans
