Dear colleague,

You are cordially invited to attend the 9th Silicate Melts Workshop to be held October 4th-8th, 2011 at the Hôtel des Vosges in La Petite Pierre, a pleasant Alsatian resort of the Vosges mountains 40 km west of Strasbourg and 400 km east of Paris.

The first circular and registration form is now available, from
http://web.missouri.edu/~whittingtona/9thSMW/

Please submit the registration form by mail, fax or email to:
Silicate Melt Workshop, c/o Pascal Richet
Institut de Physique du Globe
1 rue Jussieu, 75252 Paris cedex 05, France
Tel: 33 (0) 1 83 95 74 65
email: richet@xxxxxxx

As for previous workshops, papers presented at the meeting will be published in a special issue of Chemical Geology. The deadline for paper submission and further details will be communicated at a later date.

The registration fee is €200 per person, in addition to the accommodation fees below, which include coffee breaks, full board, the banquet, and an excursion in the afternoon of October 6. Complimentary bus transportation from and to the Saverne and Strasbourg train stations will be also available on October 4th and 8th.

Double occupancy room: 250 euros, if paid before June 1st.
Single occupancy room: 350 euros, if paid before June 1st.
Special rate for graduate students: 150 euros, if paid before June 1st.

All these fees will 100 euros higher if paid after June 1st but no later than September 1st. The accommodation fee will be refunded in full, less possible banking fees, if cancellation is received before August 1st.

To enable discussion of the most recent work, the deadline for abstracts is late, namely September 1st. It must therefore be enforced strictly. The only guideline is that abstracts will be one-page maximum. This is the last circular and no call for abstracts will be made later. Please note the abstract deadline in your calendars now.

Please feel free to circulate this information among your colleagues

Sincerely

Alan Whittington, Pascal Richet and Don Dingwell
