FOR POSTING ON THE VOLCANO LIST SERVE PAGE:
Project Hotspot - the Snake River Scientific Drilling Project, is
investigating the volcanic history of the Snake River volcanic
province with three deep drill holes -- two in the central Snake River
Plain near Twin Falls, and one in the western SRP near Mountain Home,
Idaho. The first drill hole (Kimama) is located on the central
volcanic axis and produced over 1900 meters of basalt core. The second
hole (Kimberly) is currently being drilled on the margin of the plain
through a mixed section of rhyolite, basalt, and sediment; current
depth is ~650 meters.
The project is described in more detail at the website:

RSS and FACEBOOK feeds
To get updates on the progress of drilling and core return, we have
two project information sites: the Project Hotspot news page on the
International Continental Scientific Program's website, and a Project
Hotspot Facebook page.
On the ICDP Link -- click on XML button to get RSS feed on project:
http://www.icdp-online.org/front_content.php?client=29&lang=28&idart=2939
This site provides updates on  "photo of the day" on the ICDP system.
The Project Hotspot Facebook link:

If you are a Facebook person, hit the "LIKE" button and you will get
updates as they happen in your Facebook news feed.  "Unlike" makes it
all go away.
This is an "Official Page" so there are no friends, just like or not.
That means other people's stuff won't show up on it, just project
updates.
If you are not a Facebook person, you can simply bookmark this link
and use it as a normal webpage.
Direct inquiries to John Shervais at Utah State University. This
project is funded by DOE and ICDP.
