VW02 Workshop at IUGG - "Ground-based and remote sensing of volcanic unrest"

For those of you considering attendance at IUGG 2011 in Melbourne,
we'd like to call your attention to a one-day IAVCEI workshop (VW02)
focused on "Ground-based and remote sensing of volcanic unrest".  In
the coming weeks informational materials about this workshop will be
posted online at http://www.iugg2011.com/program-workshops.asp,
however in anticipation of next Tuesday's (February 1st) abstract
deadline here follows preliminary information.

Title: "Ground-based and remote sensing of volcanic unrest" (VW02)

When: Friday, July 1, the day prior to the beginning of IAVCEI sessions

Where: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center

Cost: AUS$175, which includes catered lunch and morning and afternoon breaks

Overview: Eight speakers will deliver 45-minute talks focused on
fundamental tools used for monitoring and scientific investigation of
active volcanic systems.  Lectures will emphasize emerging
technologies, recent case studies, and multi-disciplinary
applications.

Preliminary speaker list (in alphabetical order):
Eliza Calder (University at Buffalo, US) - ground-based gas monitoring
Simon Carn (Michigan Technological University, US) - remote gas sensing
Joachim Gottsman (Bristol University, UK) - integrated ground-based geodesy
