IAVCEI Symposium V09: Eruption, Transport and Deposition of Pyroclasts in Plumes Using Field Studies, and Computational Modelling
IUGG 2011, 28 June-7 July, Melbourne, Australia (www.iugg2011.com).

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention and invite submissions, particularly from emerging researchers, to the IAVCEI Symposium V09 (Eruption, Transport and Deposition of Pyroclasts in Plumes Using Field Studies, and Computational Modelling) of the XXV IUGG General Assembly in Melbourne, Australia, 28 June - 7 July 2011. The revised abstract deadline is FEB 1, 2011.

Lead Convenors: Costanza Bonadonna (Switzerland), Bruce Houghton (USA), Antonio Costa (UK), Augusto Neri (Italy), Marcus Bursik (USA)

Scope: This symposium looks at advances in the understanding of pyroclast transport and sedimentation from plumes, jets and fountains related to steady, unsteady and transient volcanic explosions via field characterization, analog experimentation and computational modeling. Contributions on the deposits and plume behavior from the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in Iceland would be of considerable interest.

Keynote speakers: Jennie Gilbert, Arnau Folch

Further details on this and other IUGG symposia can be found at http://www.iugg2011.com/program-iavcei.asp
