The Department of Earth Science at Rice University is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position to study magmatic processes ranging from melt segregation in the mantle to volcanic eruptions, as well as the study of other geological processes involving fluid flow, including flow through porous materials. Within this broad context, the candidate will pursue projects of her/his interest, but is expected to also contribute to existing projects related to magma vesiculation. The candidate should have numerical modeling skills or experience in fluid mechanics laboratory experimentation. A Ph.D. is required at the time of the appointment. The position provides access to excellent computational resources, experimental facilities, observational data and interdisciplinary collaboration.
