REMINDER...
Tuesday March 9th (11:59 pm EST) is the deadline for abstract submissions for the technical session entitled "Advances in Understanding Magma Petrogenesis and Eruption Dynamics at Basaltic Volcanoes" (Co-Chaired by Brandon Browne and Nancy Riggs) at the meeting of the Cordilleran Section of the Geological Society of America to be held May 27-29, 2010 in Anaheim California.

Contributors to this session are encouraged that present geomorphic, stratigraphic, geochemical, petrological and/or experimental data that add to our understanding of magma petrogenesis and eruption dynamics at basaltic volcanoes, with a focus on Miocene and younger centers in the North American Cordilleran.

March 9th is also the deadline for registering for the post-meeting field trip entitled "Geologic History, Eruptive Stratigraphy and Ongoing Volcanic Unrest at Long Valley Caldera and Mammoth Mountain." Sun.-Wed., 30 May-2 June. Leaders: Wes Hildreth, David Hill, Jorge Vazquez (USGS Volcano Hazards Program) and Brandon Browne (CSU-Fullerton)

Students in particular are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts and attend field trips. The link to the Section Meeting web site is http://www.geosociety.org/sectdiv/cord/2010mtg/
