COV6 Workshop:  Post-meeting - Ash Fall Impacts Working Group Workshop:  (
http://www.citiesonvolcanoes6.com/en.A24.html)
Date/Time:  Saturday June 5, 2010, 09:00 to 16:00 hours
Description:  This workshop is a follow on from Sessions 2.6 (Human health
problems caused by volcanic activity and Session) and 2.7 (Understanding
and mitigating the impacts of volcanic ash fall) and leverages
participation from those presenting and attending these sessions.  Former
workshop members and other interested individuals are invited to gather to
discuss working group objectives (see below) and continued vision of
understanding and mitigating impacts of ash fall.
The Ash Fall Impacts Working Group is newly formed and draws from a
diverse international list of collaborators and welcomes new participants.
This workshop is co-hosted by the International Volcanic Health Hazard
Network who have been working, since 2003, to understand the health impact
of volcanic ash fall. IVHHN has produced two sets of pamphlets for the
public, on preparing for volcanic ash fall and on the health hazards of
volcanic ash which can be downloaded in several languages from
www.ivhhn.org. The goal of the working group is to produce tangible and
timely collaborative outputs by reporting on previous action items and
setting new goals and timelines.

Working group objectives currently include:
1.      Improved ash fall impact data and image repositories; improved
communication
2.      More effective ash fall warning messages
3.      Ash impact loss-damage functions for risk calculation
4.      Protocols for data collection and analysis
5.      Checklist of topics and indicators to collect impact data on
following eruptions

Brief Agenda:
1.      Workshop description and origin of Ash fall Impacts working group
2.      Reports from individuals on action items identified at previous
meeting in Portland, OR, USA
3.      Open discussion/comments
4.      Summary and next steps

Cost:  We are making arrangements for food and beverages at the workshop
so other than that, there are is no cost.  Food costs will be posted when
available.
