We are pleased to announce a workshop that will take place in ETH Zurich (Switzerland) from the 3rd to the 5th of February 2010. The Department of Earth Sciences, ETH Zurich will provide the logistic support for the meeting.

The title of the workshop is: "Rheology and physical properties of magmas: Control on dynamics of magma transport, storage and eruption".

The organizers are: Luca Caricchi (University of Bristol, UK), Peter Ulmer and Luigi Burlini (ETH Zurich, Switzerland).

The invited speakers are: Donald B. Dingwell (LMU Munich, Germany), Yan Lavallèe (LMU Munich, Germany), Heidy Mader (University of Bristol, UK), Jürgen Neuberg (University of Leeds, UK), Paolo Papale (INGV Pisa, Italy), Hugh Tuffen (University of Lancaster, UK).

The workshop is organized in three days; each day, two invited speakers will give four talks of 40 minutes, each followed by 20 minutes discussion. One of the aims of the workshop is to have a substantial amount of interaction between the speakers and the participants.

The participants are invited to submit an abstract (Max one A4 page, font size 12, title in bold followed by authors and affiliations. Identify the affiliation associated to each author using superscript numbering. Please submit the abstracts as .doc files) by the 1st of January 2010 by e-mail to (ca.luca@xxxxxxxx, cc: peter.ulmer@xxxxxxxxxxxx). The participants will present their contributions as Posters during a Poster fair that will take place every afternoon after 4 PM (the poster fair will be accompanied by refreshments).

The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants (PhD, Postdocs and other Academic Staff).

There are NO inscription fees.

A social dinner will be offered on the second day of workshop.

To register please send an e-mail with subject “registration ETH workshop 2010” with your name, surname, e-mail address and affiliation to Luca Caricchi (ca.luca@xxxxxxxx; cc: peter.ulmer@xxxxxxxxxxxx).
