***************************************************************** From: Adrian Jones <adrian.jones@xxxxxxxxx> ***************************************************************** We would like to encourage any late submissions for the session on Carbon from cosmos to core (GMPV17) , at the next European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, 2009, 19-24 April (http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2009/). Session description: State of the art investigations of organic and inorganic carbon in meteorites can provide powerful constraints for cosmochemical models of carbon in the Earth. There is a close parallel between the way we investigate minerals from the mantle, such as diamond, with meteorites, including rarity, small sample size and textural analysis. Their commonality and differences promote new ways to examine fundamental processes including melting, crystallization, shock modification/ metamorphism, transport and petrogenesis with respect to deep carbon. Keynote speakers: Steve Haggerty, Mark Sephton, Andrew Steele. Please join us in Vienna! Conveners: A. P. Jones and M.
