*************************************************************** From: Jurgen Neuberg <j.neuberg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> *************************************************************** Dear Colleagues, We would like to invite you to participate in the following session to be held at the IAVCEI General Assembly 2008. The deadline for abstract submission is 1 April 2008. Please use the IAVCEI website http://www.iavcei2008.hi.is/page/I08-absub 2 - b Integrated Monitoring and Modelling of Volcanic Activity This session is designed to bring together geophysicists, geodesists, geochemists and petrologists engaged in multi-disciplinary monitoring of active and quiescent volcanoes. Recent advances in geophysical and geochemical measurements on volcanoes combined with increasingly sophisticated modelling methods lead to a better understanding of dynamic processes within volcanoes. New measurement techniques which often incorporate enhanced temporal resolution or multi-sensor networks produce results which do not easily fit into existing conceptual paradigms, challenging us to develop more detailed and subtle models of volcanic systems. By combining diverse empirical approaches with theoretical studies we can gain surprising and exciting new insights which help to define hazards and thereby directly benefit the monitoring community and civil protection. The goal of this session is to provide a forum for multi-disciplinary approaches in volcanology and encourage submission of papers which highlight the interaction across, and clear links between, various monitoring and modelling disciplines. Conveners: Jurgen Neuberg, The University of Leeds, UK (J.Neuberg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) Steinunn Jakobsdóttir, Icelandic Meteorological Office, Iceland (ssj@xxxxxxxx) Hazel Rymer, Open University, UK (H.Rymer@xxxxxxxxxx) Cynthia Werner, USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory, USA (cwerner@xxxxxxxx) ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
