The University of Alaska Fairbanks and Kamchatka State University announce
the 2008 summer sessions of the International Volcanological Field School.
The combined undergraduate and graduate class offers lectures on the
fundamentals of volcanology and advanced seminars on volcanological
issues, stimulated by visits to spectacular products of recent volcanic
eruptions. Students may choose from two, two-week long sessions. One is
based in the famous Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes of Katmai National Park,
Alaska, USA and is scheduled for June 8-21. The other is based between
Gorely and Mutnovsky volcanoes, near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, and
is scheduled for August 2-17. The application deadline is April 1.
