We would like to announce a special session on timescales of
geochemical changes at the July, 2008 Goldschmidt meeting in
Vancouver. Abstracts are due March 1 and may be submitted only at:

http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/abstracts/instructions

Session 10c: Temporal geochemical evolution of active magmatic systems

Convenors: Julie Bryce, Andy Calvert and Karen Harpp
Keynote speaker: Georg Zellmer (Academia Sinica, Nankang)
            Invited speaker: Mariek Schmidt (Smithsonian)

Recent studies, driven by enhanced analytical capabilities, shed new
insight on time scales relevant to magma formation, transport, storage
and eruption. We seek contributions describing these recent advances
in our understanding of temporal geochemical evolution in active
magmatic centers. We are especially interested in studies integrating
temporal and chemical studies of (1) magmatic processes as recorded in
phenocrysts and other eruptive materials, (2) links between plutonic
and volcanic systems, (3) mechanisms and time scales of crustal
assimilation, (4) primary melt generation and magma dynamics, and (5)
individual volcanic centers and flows.

Please join us.

Thanks, Julie, Andy and Karen
