The abstract submission deadline is 1 April 2008. ___________________________________________ Environmental Effects of Volcanic Emissions http://www.jardvis.hi.is/page/I08-SYM4#4-c ___________________________________________ Volcanic volatile emissions - both during and between eruptions - can have pronounced and widespread impacts on the atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic environments, including distal and proximal effects on air quality, soil contamination, marine and terrestrial surface water composition, and destruction or enhancement of vegetation. These environmental effects are mediated through interactions with the volcanic volatiles present in the gas and aerosol phases and/or adsorbed onto the surface of silicate ash particles. In this session, we welcome interdisciplinary contributions from geochemical, environmental, atmospheric and ecological perspectives, which highlight the local to regional scale fate of volcanic emissions in the environment.
