Dear colleagues

we would like to draw your attention to the following session at the
upcoming EGU General Assembly 2008 in Vienna:

TS9: From rifting to drifting: observations, models and ideas on passive
margin formation

Passive continental margins continue to be a focus of geological
research. Special attention is given to the geological processes that
govern continental breakup, the rift to drift transition. These magmatic
and tectonic processes may differ significantly between volcanic and
non-volcanic passive margins. It has been become clear now that
understanding these differences and quantifying the key geological
processes requires integrated studies that include geophysical
observations, geological and petrological field constraints as well as
numerical and analog models. This session aims at bringing together
geoscientists from different disciplines in order to exchange new
observations, models and ideas on continental rifting and breakup.

All the best

Lars Ruepke (lruepke@xxxxxxxxxxxxx)
