Duration: 18 months. Profile: physical volcanology. Place: Laboratory "Magmas & Volcans" (Blaise Pascal University, Clermont-Ferrand, France). The Laboratory "Magmas & Volcans" invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in physical volcanology starting by early-mid 2008. Applicants must have a PhD in Earth Sciences or related disciplines at the time of appointment, with research backgrounds including essentially laboratory experimental work and quantitative analysis. Skills in numerical modelling will be also considered. The successful candidate will be a member of the physical volcanology team studying the dynamics of volcanic flows and will work in the laboratory with appropriate experimental facilities and analytical equipment. He/she will be included in the experimental programme developed by the team on gas-particle flows with a special emphasis on flow dynamics and deposition processes. Complementary numerical modelling using pre-existing codes or involving development of new ones will be carried out depending on the applicant's abilities.
