From: Nick Varley <nick@xxxxxxx>
*********************************************************************

The Faculty of Science in the University of Colima, Mexico is
looking for an enthusiastic person to enter the growing area of Earth
Science. The successful applicant will be expected to initiate exciting
research projects and will already have a proven track record of
publications. A PhD is required in geosciences, with some relevant
postdoctoral research. Research interests in any area of Earth Science
will be considered, but they will need to compliment existing areas of
expertise, which include volcanology, seismology and evaluation and
mitigation of hazards. Experience in GIS would be desirable.

During 2007 we launched a new degree "Environmental Science and
Risk Management" and the successful applicant will form part of the
nucleus of lecturers for this course. There will also be opportunities
for postgraduate teaching. Teaching will be in Spanish, so either prior
competence or motivation to learn the language rapidly is required.

The start date will be February 2008. Anyone who is interested should
email Nick Varley with their research interests, a statement of
teaching experience and interests and CV to nick@xxxxxxxx For
further information: http://www.ucol.mx/ciiv. Applications need to
arrive before 15 Oct. 2007.
