************************************************************* From: Georges Boudon <boudon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> ************************************************************* It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Michel SEMET passed away at the age of 66, after a long illness, in Sauvenière, Belgium on Wednesday August 29 2007. After obtaining his PhD at UCLA, Michel joined the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) in 1973 where he became a physicist. In the Volcanology group of IPGP his research covered the areas of field volcanology, petrology, geochemistry, as well as volcano monitoring. He had retired in February 2006. He was a member of IAVCEI, AGU, and GSA among others. The burial service will take place in Sauvenière, Belgium, Tuesday September 4 2007 at 11h00. Michel is survived by his wife, Marie-José SEMET, daughter and son.
