The Department of Seismology at the Instituto de Geofísica of the Universidad 
Nacional Autónoma de México is opening a post-doctoral position in volcano 
seismology.


The post-doctoral researcher will study several aspects of the seismic activity 
related to the Popocatépetl volcano, including:
- interactions between large earthquakes and volcanic activity
- analysis of the LP and tremor activity
- source modelling
- array analysis
- correlation between seismicity, deformation, gas emission, and eruptive 
behaviour

This work will be carried out in the framework of the European project VOLUME 
(see http://www.volume-project.net ). It implies collaborations with several 
European and Latin-American institutions.

The appointment will be for an initial period of one year with the possibility 
of renewal for a further one-year period. Preference will be given to 
applicants with expertise and interest in seismology. The salary is 20,000 
pesos per month (about 1800 USD) and includes medical insurance. A round trip 
from country of residence of the candidate to Mexico is also included.
