Deadline of abstract submission to the Cities on Volcanoes 5 (Shimabara, Japan)
is the end of this May. Contents of sessions were described in the following
website and the second circular which can be downloaded below.

http://www.citiesonvolcanoes5.com/

Three symposiums consisting of multiple sessions were prepared; (1) Knowing
Volcanoes, (2) Volcanoes and Cities, and (3) Living with Volcanoes. Forums with
Japanese local people, administrators and volunteers and a kids session (e.g.,
volcano analogue experiment using foods in kitchen) are scheduled in addition
to the symposiums.

Do not miss the chance to discuss about recent research results on volcanic
phenomena, the hazards and their mitigation with non-volcanologists, engineers,
administrators, journalists and people living around volcanoes in the world,
and the chance to visit Japanese and Korean volcanoes including Mount Fuji,
Miyakejima and so on. Deadline of both early-registration and excursion entry
is June 14.

New lava dome on Mount Unzen can be seen in front at the meeting site.
Mountains covered with beautiful yellow and red leaves and hot spas will
welcome you in autumn of Kyushu.

[Important dates]
Deadline of abstract submission: May 31
Deadline of early registration and excursion entry: June 14
Conference: November 19-23

Sincerely

Setsuya Nakada
Coordinator of Cities on Volcanoes 5 Conference
