volcanism includes numerous small eruptive centres characterized by the presence
of extrusive carbonatites, melilite-bearing rocks, and kamafugites. The
extrusive carbonatite occurrence of Monticchio is only one of the features we
will see at Monte Vulture volcano. The two days of Monte Vulture trip will be
focused on the growth and the breakdown of this volcano and on the relationships
between its primary and epiclastic deposits.
