Girina Institute of Volcanology and Seismology KVERT ********************************** Volcano Sheveluch: Explosive activity continues. According to visual and video data at 01:55 UTC on December 17, 2006, an ash plume rose up to 8.0 km ASL and extended to the east from the volcano. There was a seismic event at 01:47 UTC on December 17 (data from KB GS RAS). Volcano Karymsky: Explosive eruption continues. According to the data from AMC, Yelizovo, at 05:28 UTC on December 17, 2006, an ash plume rising up to 7.0 km (23,000 ft.) ASL and extending to the east from the volcano was observed by pilots of EIA 102 aircraft. There was no seismic data during the past week due to technical reasons. Best regards, Dr. Olga A. Girina.
