Earth Materials/Mineralogy: The Department of Geological Sciences, Central Washington University, invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in earth materials/mineralogy to begin September 2007. The department seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Responsibilities include teaching mineralogy, introductory courses, and upper division and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise, as well as recruiting and advising undergraduates. The incumbent will develop an externally funded research program that includes master's and undergraduate students. A Ph.D. in Geological Sciences or a closely allied field is required at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to those who show potential to incorporate our geochemistry facilities and analytical instrumentation into the curriculum and/or those who have field experience and the potential to involve students in a field program.

The department is composed of a dynamic and enthusiastic group of nine tenure-track faculty who maintain active, diverse, and internationally recognized programs in which undergraduate and master's students participate. Central Washington University is located in Ellensburg, population 15000, which provides one the finest living environments in the Pacific Northwest.
