GOMA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY As forecasted in our previous message, the Goma Volcano Observatory has observed the beginning of a new eruption of volcano Nyamulagira at 20h00 Local Time. Seen from Goma (30km from the volcano) the eruption site seems to be located on the south flank of the volcano; intense red glow suggests usual lava fountains and important lava flows. The present local security situation, with heavy fights around Goma, forbids any field observations. GVO will try to organize helicopter overflights to collect more information and updates will be published when possible.
