Hi,

5.5.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0
eth1.2

I user ping and ethereal for packet trace.

Hi,
Was it a policy based routing? If yes, you need to set routes.
How did you set the routes?
What tool did you use to test it?
What is the test setup?

Hi all,
I have installed "vconfig-1.6-4.i386.rpm"

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:23:B5:C8:88
UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

          Interrupt:18 Base address:0x1000 Memory:f0480000-f04a0000

eth1.2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:23:B5:C8:88
          inet addr:5.5.5.5 Bcast:5.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:13 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:2646 (2.5 Kb)

eth1.2:9 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:23:B5:C8:88
          inet addr:169.254.253.242 Bcast:169.254.255.255
Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
I have configured it this way BUT

when I try to ping outside world it fails and I see packets are
transmitted untagged.

Can someone help me ?
