PETERSBURG, Alaska, June 5, 2017–A new 2017 Petersburg Ranger District forest visitor use map is available for purchase at multiple locations in Southeast Alaska. It covers the 1.6 million-acre Petersburg Ranger District including: Mitkof, Kupreanof, and Kuiu Islands along with smaller islands, numerous islets, and a portion of the mainland.

The folded, waterproof map costs $10. Purchase locations include the Petersburg Ranger District office located at 12 North Nordic Drive; at the Federal Building in Juneau, located at 709 West 9th Street downtown; and Juneau’s Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center located at 8510 Mendenhall Loop Road. The map is also available on-line from the National Forest Map Store or The USGS Store. Unfolded flat maps may be purchased at the Petersburg Ranger District.

The new contour map covers the entire Petersburg Ranger District. Area information, recreational opportunities, and safety information are described on the map; including topics of interest, roads, trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, cabins, and shelters.
