Fee-Free Day announced for Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center on May 14 JUNEAU, Alaska, May 9, 2017 – In honor of the arrival of the Navy Destroyer, the
USS O’Kane, the Forest Service is waiving the $5.00 fee normally charged for visiting Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. The fee waiver will apply on May 14, 2017, for that day only. It will not be necessary for any Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center visitor
to purchase the $5.00 pass. Visitors may still purchase the $15.00 season pass on that day. “We are proud of the men and women of the U.S. Navy and welcome the O’Kane’s visit to Mendenhall,” said Juneau District Ranger Brad Orr.
A few of the companies permitted to transport visitors in the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area have offered to provide trips for the sailors to
