Deep Bay Cabin available for rental Wrangell, Alaska. August 3, 2016 – The Wrangell Ranger District is pleased to announce that a former administrative site will be a public recreation
cabin available for rental. The Deep Bay Cabin on Zarembo Island should appear on the
Recreation.gov website in the next couple weeks. The $75 rental fee is being waived for this initial period, so the public will be able to rent the cabin by paying only the $9 reservation fee for the next few months.
Reservations and payment may be completed on line at
http://www.recreation.gov/ or by or calling 1-877-444-6777. The TDD number is 1-877-833-6777. The international call number is 1-518-885-3639.
The Deep Bay Cabin is unique from Wrangell's other recreation cabins. It is the first large group cabin on the District. This fully accessible cabin consists of two buildings connected by a partially covered deck, providing accommodations
for up to 12 people. It is also the only cabin on the Zarembo Island road system. It can be accessed from the south end of Deep Bay by boat, or from Roosevelt Harbor, which is about a 1/4 mile away from the cabin. Roosevelt Harbor has a float dock, ramp, and
parking area. At this time, furnishing is minimal, and visitors should bring their own cots, tables, chairs, and camping equipment. Updated furnishings are anticipated by summer of 2017. Visitors should also bring their own #1 fuel oil for the stove.
For more information, contact the Wrangell Ranger District at 907-874-2323. The fully accessible Deep Bay Cabin is the only Forest Service cabin on the Zarembo Island road system. -USDA- This electronic message contains information generated by the USDA solely for the intended recipients.
