Today: The Point Imperial and Cape Royal Roads are open to the public starting at 8:00 a.m. today. Visitors may drive to these majestic lookout points, but the trails in the fire area will remain closed for public and firefighter safety. Drivers on these roads will pass through the fire area. Please only stop your vehicle and exit at the parking areas at the end of each road. Drivers should take caution on these roadways as fire fighters and fire equipment will be in the area. This is a great opportunity to experience in person the effects of fire on the landscape.

Outside of Grand Canyon National Park, the western and northern sections of the fire are expecting an increase in fire activity as predicted conditions dry out over the next few days.
