Forest Closes Bridge over South Creek Juneau, Alaska, July 8, 2016 – In the interest of public and employee
safety, the Tongass National Forest supervisor has ordered that the Neva Lake Bridge over South Creek on the Juneau Ranger District closed to all vehicle traffic, including all-terrain vehicles.
The bridge is on National Forest System Road (NFSR) 8552 at Mile Post 1.5. Forest Service officials will place a traffic barrier that blocks access to the unsafe area and structure
until a final architectural and engineering determination can be made. Plans for a replacement bridge are in the works.
