Improvement projects begin for Cinder Hills OHV Area
Flagstaff, Ariz., Sept. 8, 2015, For Immediate Release —
Today road reconstruction and resurfacing begins on Forest Road 776, which is a popular road that leads into Cinder Hills Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area from U.S. Highway
89. Visitors can expect to encounter heavy equipment hauling and working in this area, as well as delays
of up to 15 minutes along the road, as reconstruction is expected to take approximately one month. The road improvement work is part of a larger effort between the Coconino National Forest and the
Arizona State Parks OHV program to improve visitor experiences at the Cinder Hills OHV Area. The area northeast of Flagstaff is one of the largest and oldest OHV areas in Arizona. Projects over the next year and a half will focus on maintenance of existing roads, infrastructure
and trails in the area, including improvements in signing, boundary markings, trail opportunities and rehabilitating areas. OHV users can expect to encounter trail crews and equipment working in remote areas of the Cinder
Hills OHV Area at any time, and visitors are asked to use caution and drive slowly around the construction areas. For more information about the Cinder Hills OHV Area, visit
