Burnt Complex update: July 31, 2015
Fredonia, Ariz., July 31, 2015 –
The Burnt Complex reached 3,123 acres today on the North Kaibab Ranger District. Due to the light monsoonal precipitation received today, fire crews will continue to monitor the fire’s perimeter edge tomorrow,
and fire mangers anticipate smoke production to lessen as fire behavior moderates toward the southern perimeter boundary over the coming days. Local weather for the Kaibab Plateau calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop this evening and extend through Sunday with a 30-percent chance of precipitation tonight, 30-percent chance Saturday,
and a 20-percent chance of precipitation Sunday. Fire Name/Date Started: Burnt Complex; the Burnt Fire was discovered on July 5, and
the Corral Fire on July 9. Cause:
Lightning Planning Area Boundary:
The established 3,915-acre planning area is bound by Forest Service Road (FSR) 228 on the north, FSR 274 on the south and west, and FSR 22 on the east. Size:
3,123 acres
Smoke:
Smoke has been visible today but minimal throughout portions of the district near the planning area. Resources Committed: 1 Type II Wildland Fire
Module, 2 Type-6 engines, 17 wildland firefighters, 6 overhead; 23 personnel total. Closures: Currently no road or trail closures
are in effect or anticipated; however, hazard signs are posted, and motorists should exercise caution when around traveling near the planning area boundary. Get fire activity updates and maps 24 hours-a-day:
