Burnt Complex update: July 30, 2015
Fredonia, Ariz., July 30, 2015 –
Residents living in and around the North Kaibab Ranger District may be seeing light smoke on the horizon over the next few days. “In order to moderate fire behavior, firefighters introduced fire to the top of the ridgeline today (along Forest Road 274C) so it will back slowly downhill, lessening the likelihood of a high-intensity-up-slope
run of the main wildfire,” said North Kaibab Ranger District Acting Fire Management Officer Dave Gesser. Firefighters anticipate smoke production to lessen as fire behavior moderates over the coming days. Local weather for the Kaibab Plateau calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and extend through tomorrow with a 40-percent chance of precipitation tonight and a 30-percent chance
