Wrangell’s Stikine River Birding Festival WRANGELL, Alaska—The
Stikine River Birding Festival celebrates the spring arrival of hundreds of thousands of shorebirds to the Stikine River Delta. The Wrangell festival takes place April 24 through 27, 2014.
Activities for birders and non-birders are offered during the four-day celebration. The schedule is on line at
stikinebirding.org.
This year’s highlights include a featured artist, guest speakers, photo competition, arts and crafts fair, bird walks, family activities and a banquet.
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act by viewing a wilderness film.
The Meaning of Wild is showing at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The short film, developed by the Sitka Conservation Society, illustrates the beauty and diversity of Tongass National Forest Wilderness Areas. Parts of this film were shot in the
Stikine-LeConte Wilderness. Wildlife viewing jet boat rides to the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness are scheduled during the festival.
The festival is sponsored by the Tongass National Forest in partnership with the City and Borough of Wrangell, the Wrangell Convention and Visitors Bureau,
