Wrangell’s Stikine River Birding Festival WRANGELL, Alaska—The Stikine River Birding Festival celebrates the spring arrival of migratory birds, including
hundreds of thousands of shorebirds to the Stikine River Delta. The 19th year of this Wrangell festival takes place April 28 through May 1, 2016.
Activities for both birders and non-birders are offered during the four-day celebration. The schedule is online
at www.stikinebirding.org.
This year’s highlights include family activities, photo and art competitions, an arts and crafts fair, birding excursions, and guest speakers. Marlene Wagner from Simon Fraser University will present “Fish Flying the in the Forest: How Salmon Nourish our Songbirds”
to share her research on ocean and forest food webs. New events for this year include an evening of storytelling and poetry hosted by local writer Vivian Faith Prescott.
The festival is sponsored by the Tongass National Forest, the City and Borough of Wrangell, the Wrangell Convention
