Fire Activity in Game Management Unit 9
TUSAYAN, Ariz. – Please be advised of current fire activity on the Tusayan Ranger District in Game Management Unit 9. The Armstrong Fire is 457 acres, 18 miles southeast of Tusayan and north of Red Horse Wash. The Skinner Fire is 2 acres, 7 miles southeast of Tusayan on Skinner Ridge. These lightning-caused fires are being managed for resource objectives within their respective management areas.
All roads are open and accessible but all visitors are encouraged to be aware of potential increases in fire activity. Slow down on roads near the fires and watch for personnel and equipment. Please do not camp in or near the management areas for the fires. Maps are posted on information boards as a reference. This fire activity may last for several weeks.
