Pile Burning Planned for Williams Ranger District
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Kaibab National Forest fire managers announce pile burning is planned later this week near Dogtown Lake on the Williams Ranger District. If the burn request is approved and favorable conditions exist, fire personnel plan to ignite 122 acres of slash piles three miles southeast of Williams, Thursday, January 13.
The forecast shows light northeast winds over the next two days. Managers expect smoke to drift south of the piles and settle in local areas overnight.
The pile burning is part of an ongoing effort to reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health. For more information, please contact Punky Moore (928-635-5653).
