Fire Update

WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Significant rain on the Hobble Fire has stopped growth for now. More than 1.25 inches of precipitation fell across the area earlier this week. The Hobble grew to approximately 2,400 acres before the rain and hail hit. Employees assigned to the lookouts will continue to monitor the fire.

The Hobble Fire is 18 miles northeast of Williams. Game Management Unit 7W is within the management area for the fire. Please be alert to a number of potential hazards in this area including fire-weakened trees, hidden stump holes, and rolling rocks and logs. Use caution hiking, hunting, or camping near the fire.

Meanwhile, pile burning continues in various areas on the west side of the Williams Ranger District. The slash piles are due west of Williams, north of I-40 near Signal Hill. Fire crews ignited approximately 48 acres today and about 85 acres are planned Friday, October 8.
